Chargemaster is offering 4,000 AA hotels and B&Bs EV charge points, as part of its partnership with the association.

Both fast and rapid charge points are being offered by the firm at no cost, with new locations to be added to the Polar network.

The first location to benefit from the scheme is Sandford Springs Hotel in Kingsclere, Hampshire. It now has a Chargemaster rapid point, available for guests and visitors to use.

Chargemaster will work with any AA-inspected establishments interested in taking up the offer, working with hotels and B&Bs to provide the best unit type for the location. Rapid chargers will be put in at sites close to high-traffic routes, and fast chargers installed at destinations for guests to charge overnight.

Research by the company shows that 90% of EV drivers will look for destinations that have charge points available to use, over those that don’t.

David Martell, Chief Executive of Chargemaster, said: “We believe that within the next five years, all hotels will offer EV charging, just like they provide Wi-Fi today. Our offer for AA hotels is a great opportunity for hotel owners and operators to get a competitive advantage with a facility that could attract hundreds of thousands of customers in the coming years.”

Edmund King OBE, president of the AA, added: “Alongside our automotive heritage, the AA has been involved in the hospitality industry since 1908. We know that when EV drivers are looking for hotels, they will actively seek out those with charging points.

“We have witnessed enormous changes in both the automotive and hotel sectors over the last 110 years, and we are delighted that our AA recognised hospitality businesses can benefit from this tremendous offer.”

New units will be available to find on Zap-Map as they go live. More information on Chargemaster’s Polar network is available from Zap-Map’s Network Guides.
