ABM has signed agreement with US charging giant ChargePoint to distribute, maintain, and install the company’s units throughout the UK.

The engineering and facilities management services firm ABM UK will deal with installation and maintenance, with a team of 450 engineers available to support commercial and domestic units.

Home, destination, and rapid charging units will all be available for customers to cover a variety of requirements, with ABM expanding into the EV charging market having worked with clients such as The O2 Arena and TfL.

ChargePoint has more than 42,000 places to charge – predominantly in North America – and is expanding its operations to Europe and the UK.

Jason Pease, Technical Solutions managing director at ABM UK, said: “ABM UK is incredibly excited to be working with ChargePoint – a hugely experienced and respected company in the global EV infrastructure sector.

“From the outset, ChargePoint made its ambitions clear, and the team left us in no doubt that they share the same values and bold vision as ABM UK. The UK’s EV infrastructure market has huge growth potential, and it’s an area that ABM UK wants to be an integral part of, and have a say in shaping the future of.

“We believe that our experience in the retail sector and growing client base will help ChargePoint to realise its expansion objectives in the UK, and we are looking forward to working alongside and representing the brand over the coming years.”

Chris Burghardt, managing director at ChargePoint in Europe, commented: “ChargePoint has a decade of experience developing class-leading charging solutions, with a firm commitment to help build the most comprehensive network of EV charging in Europe.

“As we grow, it’s exciting to extend our partnership with ABM, whom we’ve had a close relationship with over many years in the United States. ABM UK’s deep experience in the market, coupled with its demonstrated capabilities in markets globally helps us as we aggressively grow our business in the region.”
