The East Renfrewshire area in Scotland will benefit from a government grant of £78,000 to improve the coverage of electric vehicle charging points.
The Scottish Government and the Office for Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV) have provided the East Renfrewshire council with a grant of £78,000 to encourage the uptake of electric vehicles (EVs).
Councillor Tony Buchanan, convener for infrastructure and sustainable growth, said: “I welcome this offer of funding and I hope many residents will take advantage of the facilities that will be provided.
“This will hopefully help to give local people confidence that electric vehicles can be a sustainable travel option for the future.”
The £78,000 funding is expected to provide one strategic site with a multi-standard rapid charging unit, one local fast charger and three more rapid charging points (most likely to be CHAdeMO stations).
At first, there will be no fee to use the charging points.
