East Anglian EV charging network EV Driver has launched its own app on Androis and iOS, making it easier for drivers to charge on the company’s network. The app replaces EV Driver’s previous web-page based set-up, and will allow further features to be developed in due course.

Based on the Fortum Charge & Drive back office that is widely used in Europe – particularly in Scandinavia – EV Driver’s new app can be used to locate charge points, and also for account features such as total kWhs used, and charging updates.

In future, EV Drover plans on introducing elements such as push notifications that let users know when a charge point becomes free or can be booked. Underlying all of the app features is the new backend that has improved response times for end users.

The EV Driver is expanding quickly, with more than a dozen locations and 20 connectors available for users. For anyone that doesn’t have an Android or iOS smartphone, the network’s RFID fob is still available, and there is the ability to pay over the phone during office hours for occasional users that don’t want to register.

As a Zap-Map dynamic data partner, live status updates are available for all EV Driver units. This allows users to find out whether a charge point is in use, available, or out of action via the Zap-Map app or desktop.
