Rapid charge points are being added to the GeniePoint network in Hampshire, with a number of the units seeing high levels of usage by EV drivers.
There are now 19 chargers across the county by ChargePoint Services – the company behind the GeniePoint network – with new units being installed in Chichester and Havant, with more due before the end of the year.
Recent additions at Petersfield and Alton have been quickly established as key units in the area for the network. Despite the Petersfield rapid charger only having been installed at the town’s Waitrose in February, it has already racked up the highest number of charging sessions of GeniePoint’s Hampshire chargers.
Having worked with East Hampshire District Council, care has been taken to make sure the rapid chargers have been installed at crucial locations – with easy access and close to main routes.
Alex Bamberg, managing director, ChargePoint Services, said: “ChargePoint Services are very pleased to be working with EHDC in rolling out of further EV charging facilities in East Hampshire. It is clear from the extremely steep increase in usage that the public are waiting for rapid charging facilities to become available and are embracing the facility immediately it is installed.
“We are focused in our drive to provide the latest in EV charging technology to drivers providing them with the essential service of fuelling their electric vehicles as a day to day requirement.”
GeniePoint is one of Zap-Map’s dynamic data partners, with visitors to the map able to see live status information for the network’s charge points.
