The Volkswagen e-Golf battery electric vehicle (BEV) is set to be the latest recruit in the German Police Force.

Next week, at the General Police Equipment Exhibition and Conference (GPEC) in Liepzig, the special edition Volkswagen e-Golf will be unveiled as the patrol car of the future.

The new Volkswagen e-Golf has an official driving range of 118 miles and can accelerate from 0-60 in 10.4 seconds.

It can either be charged over night using a slow rated (3kW) charge point or utilise rapid charging facilities that supply an 80% charge in under half an hour.

The specially designed e-Golf has been fitted with a SoSi siren system, light bar across the roof and new digital radio to prepare it for service in the near future.
