Jaguar has launched its first pure-EV – the I-Pace – with the all-electric SUV offering a range of 298 miles (WLTP) on a single charge.

Unveiled live at a special event in Graz, Austria, the I-Pace goes on sale immediately, and looks set to become one of the market leading EVs.

The driving range available from a 90 kWh battery is one of the strings to its bow, but a 0-60mph time of 4.5 seconds thanks to 696 Nm of torque and 400hp all draw immediate comparisons to rivals Tesla.

The premium SUV will only be made as a pure-EV, and will be able to charge at ultra-rapid speeds. Using a CCS connector, the I-Pace will be able to charge at 100kW units from 0-80% in 40 minutes – or 85 minutes from a more widely-available 50kW rapid charger.

Deliveries are expected from summer later this year, with UK pricing starting at £63,495, and trim levels of S, SE, and HSE – with a First Edition too. The I-Pace will get its public debut at the Geneva Motor Show next week.
