Audi has revealed the e-tron GT concept at the LA Auto Show, with a production version of the all-electric four-door coupe due to go arrive in around two years’ time.

A range of 248 miles (WLTP) is available from a battery with an “energy content of more than 90 kWh”, which powers twin-electric motors producing a combined 434 kW (590 hp) – with a motor fitted to each axle.

The 0-62mph time of around 3.5 seconds, long-range, high performance, and sleek sportback design mean that comparisons with Tesla’s Model S are inevitable. However, by the time the e-tron GT arrives, it will also be going up against a VW Group stablemate, the Porsche Taycan, with which it shares a platform.la debut audi tron gt
Audi has also fitted the same brake energy recuperation system as developed for the e-tron SUV, which promises to boost range by up to 30%, working both motors and with selectable regen levels.

To charge, the e-tron GT can be topped up via wireless charging at up to 11 kW, or the Audi – like the Taycan – can charge on ultra rapid CCS units at up to 350 kW. This sees charging times drop to just 20 minutes for an 80% charge.

Series production models will be developed by the end of 2020, with initial deliveries expected early 2021. The e-tron GT will follow the already launched e-tron and e-tron Sportback, due in 2019.
