Mercedes Benz has revealed the EQV – the next pure-electric model to join the EQ range. Due to receive its world debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month, the EQV has a range of 252 miles on a single charge.

The premium MPV will seat six, seven, or eight, depending on configuration. Closely based on the Concept EQV presented at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year, the new electric Mercedes will join the EQC SUV in the company’s pure-electric sub-brand.

Official efficiency figures are yet to be confirmed, but a range of around 250 miles will be about right. Mercedes calculates that the EQV has an energy consumption figure of 27 kWh/100km.

Fitted with a 150 kW electric motor and 90 kWh battery, charging is carried out via a CCS inlet, which will accept up to 110 kW DC charging from an ultra-rapid point. AC charging can be carried out at up to 11 kW. This allows for charging times of less than 45 minutes (10-80% charge), and a full top up in less than 10 hours respectively.

Paddles on the steering wheel let the driver adjust the strength of the regenerative braking depending on circumstances, and there are various drive modes to be selected. The Mercedes me Charge offers access to more than 300,000 public charge points across Europe, and Mercedes is one of the backers of the Ionity ultra-rapid charging network, with points being installed along the major routes across the UK and the continent.

Expected to prove a rival for the likes of the Model X in the domestic market – for those buyers requiring lots of space and/or seating regularly, the EQV is also a zero-tailpipe emission option for taxi, private hire, and shuttle fleets.

Further information will be announced at the car’s debut at Frankfurt in September, and UK pricing and specifications closer to the EQV’s launch.
