MG has launched its new MG5 EV, a pure-electric estate that starts at less than £25,000. Featuring a 214 mile range, the MG5 EV can be rapid charged in less than an hour.

Powered by a 53.2 kWh battery supplying the 115 kW electric motor, the MG5 EV looks set to follow in the footsteps of the popular MG ZS EV. The pure-electric crossover has won buyers over with a practical cabin, good range, and excellent starting price.

Now offering another practical EV, MG states that the range is 276 miles if kept to town driving, and it will charge from a fast point in around eight and a half hours.

At the same time as the introduction of the MG5 EV, the company has also launched a plug-in hybrid version of its HS SUV, The new MG HS Plug-in has a range of up to 32 miles on electric only, and the firm’s largest car starts at £29,995.

MG reckons that next year will see more than 50% of its sales either electric or plug-in hybrid. Now with two pure-EVs and a PHEV, the line-up sees a plug-in option in almost all of MG’s products.
