Peugeot has revealed that the new 208 range will get its world premier at the Geneva Motor Show next week, including the pure-electric e-208 variant.

Set to feature a 50 kWh battery and 100 kW electric motor, the e-208 will offer a range of 211 miles (WLTP) on a single charge.

Rapid charging at speeds of up to 100 kW will be possible, reducing the time taken for a 0-80% charge to less than 30 minutes. Home and public charging will take up to 8 hours. Connector types haven’s been announced, but it would be a surprise if the e-208 didn’t use Type 2 CCS.

Peugeot is launching connected EV services, familiar to many plug-in car drivers, including charge status updates and timer, an pre-conditioning.

A heat pump will be fitted to improve the efficiency of the heating system, and heated seats will be available depending on specification. Driving modes will include Eco, Normal, and Sport.

Services available will include home and/or workplace charge points, a public charge point pass under the French group’s Free2Move mobility programme, driving coaching via the MyPeugeot app, and digital journey simulators to improve customer understanding as to the capabilities of their EV.

The company’s i-Cockpit cabin will be incorporated into the 208 range, with a configurable instrument display and Apple CarPlay & Android Auto connectivity.

Online reservations can be made from the end of March, with order books opening in late summer 2019. Further specification details and pricing will be announced closer to launch.
