With milk-floats having been the traditional electric vehicle joke for some time now, milkmen will start making zero tailpipe-emission deliveries again, after Milk & More has placed an order 200 new vehicles with StreetScooter.

Developed by German logistics firm Deutsche Post DHL Group, the StreetScooter has a range of more than 120 miles, and can travel at up to 75 mph.

Patrick Müller, Managing Director of Milk & More, said: “We wanted to make this unique tradition relevant again to the requirements of today’s customers. In order to do this, we need a local product portfolio, new IT systems as well as reliable, quiet and environmentally friendly vehicles. In the StreetScooter, we have found the ideal vehicle for our needs.”

The models ordered will remain in left-hand drive configuration since it makes deliveries safer, with drivers able to get out directly onto the pavement.
