Car makers Peugeot, Renault, and MG have announced that they will be boosting the Plug-in Car Grant to previous levels for customers, so they don’t lose out as a result of changes made in the Budget earlier this week.

The announcement that the Plug-in Car Grant was being reduced by £500 to £3,000 on Wednesday (11th March) only came a few hours before the new regulations came into effect. This means a number of electric cars will have been ordered under the expectation the grant would discount the cost of the car by £3,500, but the subsidy will now be £500 less by the time they are registered.

Renault’s Zoe range,MG’s ZS EV, and Peugeot’s e-208 & e-2008 will all be discounted by the additional £500 to retain prices for a short while longer. All three manufacturers will retain pre-Budget announcement costs for orders place before 31st March 2020.

Prices until the end of the month for the Zoe start at £24,670 for the second-generation electric supermini, with a range of 245 miles on a charge. MG’s offering starts from £22,495 for the ZS EV and its 163 mile range. Peugeot’s two EVs – the e-208 and e-2008 – will continue to start at £25,200 and £28,150 respectively.

Any additional manufacturers providing a similar offer will be added to this piece as announcements are made.
