Franklin Energy has expanded its network with the addition of new charging points at Q-Park car parks in Manchester, Leeds, Sheffield, and York.

The new units are part of Q-Park’s expanding EV charging offering, with the parking company having previously had Franklin Energy points in locations in Liverpool installed.

Other benefits for zero-tailpipe emission vehicle drivers include discounted season tickets, and payment through a smartphone app to allow EV owners to pay for the electricity used easily. The latest points installed are 22kW fast charging units.

The latest roll-out of points is part of a partnership that has been running for the last two years, with Q-Park and Franklin Energy installing charging points across the north of England.

Rob Byrne, founder of Franklin Energy, said: “This is a key milestone for Franklin Energy as we deploy the go to charging network across the Northern Powerhouse cities. Q Park is a prime location partner and from the analysing existing demand across the North West sites, we believe this roll-out to be very timely as plug in vehicle sales continue to accelerate.”

John Denton, Head of Sales and Marketing at Q-Park UK, commented: “We have been committed to focusing on our green agenda for many years so we’re delighted with this latest roll out. It was good to work with Franklin Energy on this latest roll out which gave us the opportunity to truly lead the market in offering EV charging in key city centres.”
