Tesla has introduced a new software update to its Model S and Model X range, with the main change being the addition of ‘Chill Mode’.

Having focused for some time on ways to make models faster, inculding the currently available Model S P100D with Ludicrous Mode, Tesla’s latest update is designed to make things a little more – well – chilled.

The capacity for Tesla’s famous sprint times is reduced, making acceleration slower for smoother driving. The other benefit is (slightly) improved range as it is easier to pull away gently.

Also included in the update is an easy access setting. This will move the driver’s seat and steering wheel when parked to make getting into and out of the Tesla easier. The car remembers the driver’s setting and moves the wheel and seat back to the original position when the driver is aboard.

It’s not a new feature for a number of Tesla’s rivals, but does respond to customer requests make access easier.
