Source London has been bought by fuel giant Total, with the deal including more than 1,600 public EV charge points.
One of the capital’s key public EV charging networks, Source London‘s previous operators Bollore Group has sold the entire infrastructure to Total.
Previously powered by 100% renewable energy, Total has committed to continuing that system with electricity backed by its energy subsidiary Total Gas & Power Ltd; it operates offshore wind sites off the coast of Wales and Scotland.
The move follows from previous EV charge point acquisition as Total prepares for a future with fewer internal combustion cars on the road. It has already acquired charge point networks in Amsterdam and Brussels.
London marks the latest stage of its plans to operate more than 150,000 public EV charge points across major European cities by 2025.
There is no news as to whether there will be an increase of EV charge points at Total fuel stations, but it has been confirmed that users will see no impact in the Source London service. The deal should be completed by the end of the year, but will have no bearing on the operability of the network’s charge points.
