Vauxhall has launched its new Vivaro-e, with the pure-electric van capable of covering up to 188 miles on a charge.

Powered by a 100 kW electric motor, the Vivaro-e will be available in two body lengths and two body variants.

It will carry a payload of up to 1,226 kg, comparable with many similar internal combustion powered light commercial vehicles. Payload is only 130 kg less than that of a diesel-powered Vivaro, which is built on the same line as the Vivaro-e.

Customers are offered a choice of two battery sizes. A 75 kWh battery allows for the headline 188 miles of range, whilst a 50 kWh pack is also available for those with smaller working areas, providing a 125 mile range on a single charge.

Charging is possible at up to 100 kW DC via the CCS inlet, topping up the smaller battery option in just half an hour to 80%, or 45 minutes for the 75 kWh model.

Fast charging at 7.4 kW is offered as standard, though for customers with access to higher powered charge points, they may prefer the optional 11 kW on-board charger.

The recently launched VauxhallConnect e-remote enables functions familiar to many EV drivers, such as pre-conditioning, checking battery charge, and programming charging times.

The new Vivaro-e will be available to order from June, and Vauxhall expects first deliveries in autumn.
