Worcestershire County Council are encouraging businesses in the region to install electric car charging points at their premises.
The council is currently in the process of finalising plans to introduce 12 new, strategically placed public EV charging points around Worcestershire county. At the same time, councillors are urging private employers to supplement this by installing their own charging points.
Councillor Anthony Blagg, the cabinet member for the environment, said:”Technology changes all the time, and I’ve no doubt when it comes to cars it will be the same,
“But it’s also about supply and demand – once people realise there’s more of these things by the road they might say ‘I have a garden centre, it makes sense to have one in my car park’.
“We do want to see more of them [charging points] made available.”
Worcestershire County Council were awarded £450,000 in OLEV funding to enable the provision of the 12 planned charging points. All that remains is to decide on suitable locations.
