The electric vehicle community is preparing to set off on a rally across Europe as part of the fourth World Advanced Vehicle Expedition (WAVE) starting on 31st May 2014.
WAVE is the largest 100% electric vehicle (EV) rally in the world. The 2014 edition of the WAVE tournament, which will run from 31st May to 8th June, is expected to have over 70 teams competing with 50 already registered. It will leave from Stuttgart Germany and end up in Lucerne, Switzerland (see here for full route).
Competing teams will benefit from an all inclusive package of food, accommodation, electricity and a daily program. All you need to participate is your own EV.
Over the 9 days, there will be numerous challenges testing the competitors from their driving ability to vehicle efficiency. Eventually, an overall winner with the most accumulated points from the daily challenges will be crowned and awarded the WAVE trophy.
The rally has been designed by the organisers to promote battery electric vehicles and sustainable transport. It hopes to demonstrate that EVs are both fun and practical “even on the highest mountain roads”.
