ESB Energy (Taxi) network

esb energy charging network

ESB holds one of the Transport for London (TfL) concessions to provide rapid charging points for the capital’s EV taxi drivers. With comprehensive coverage in Ireland, ESB has extensive experience in operating an EV public charging network, and has expanded into London with its Energy (Taxi) network, providing rapid charge points dedicated for taxi-only use.

ESB Energy (Taxi) charge points can be accessed with Zap-Pay, ESB app or RFID card. The network is split between taxi-only and public-use points, but access requirements are the same across the ESB Energy network.

Access to the ESB Energy (Taxi) network is made via the network’s EV Plug-In app or an ESB Energy RFID card. Taxi drivers can use the network on a pay-as-you-go basis with Zap-Pay or ESB app. ESB Energy (Taxi) subscribers will receive an RFID card for access. Drivers can register an account with ESB Energy, with the driver billed once the charging session is complete.

Finding ESB Energy (Taxi) points on Zap-Map

All ESB Energy (Taxi) points can be found on Zap-Map by using the network filter and the ‘Show “taxi only” points on app’ function in the Zap-Map settings. This can be used on the desktop and mobile apps, and displays only those rapid points available on the ESB Energy (Taxi) network.

ESB is both a Zap-Pay partner and dynamic data partner, providing a live feed of points that helps to show the most up-to-date charge point information possible. This means Zap-Map can show if a charge point is in use or available, alongside the traditional reports indicating whether the unit is operational or out of order.

About ESB Energy (Taxi)

The ESB Energy network is operated by ESB on behalf of TfL as part of London’s rapid EV charging infrastructure roll-out, and all London points use 100% renewable electricity.

ESB has been operating EV public charging networks since 2010 in Ireland, and developed the island-wide EV charging infrastructure – with networks in both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.

As a Zap-Pay partner and dynamic data partner, all ESB EV charging networks display live status information on the Zap-Map desktop map and iOS/Android apps.
