Rental and leasing companies will get the chance to see to the innovative BMW i8 plug-in hybrid in the flesh at the upcoming BVRLA Fleet Technology Congress, taking place on the 1st July at the Heritage Motor Centre in Gaydon, Warwickshire.
The premium plug-in hybrid sports car is due to go on sale midway through next month and offers the latest in design and technology from BMW.
BVRLA Chief Executive Gerry Keaney said: “Rental and leasing companies will no doubt be keen to see the technology under the skin of this revolutionary sports car as it will gradually filter down and become standard on mainstream fleet cars in the coming years.”
With a 131hp 1.5-litre petrol engine combined with a 7.1kWh battery, the i8 emits 49g/km CO2 and returns 135mpg. In pure electric mode the i8 has a range of around 23 miles with zero CO2 emissions, which is an impressive capability for a car with such sporty credentials.
Prices start at £99,845, which is to be expected considering its futuristic appeal. The i8 stands as an example for smarter and cleaner transport, demonstrating that even the most extravagant vehicles can achieve ‘greener’ and more economical results.
