Last week Zapmap joined the BVRLA at Stourhead National Trust in support of its Bon VoyCharge campaign to highlight fantastic examples of destination charging, with the aim to encourage further uptake across the country.
Together we met with Dr. Andrew Murrison, MP for South West Wiltshire - the meeting highlighted the fantastic sustainability efforts at sites like Stourhead National Trust, including its upcoming solar installation and sustainably managed biomass energy production in its efforts towards Net-Zero.
We then addressed the critical role of destination charging in building a robust and reliable public charging network, emphasising how destination charging can support the wider UK electric vehicle transition.

Phillip Niemand, General Manager of Stourhead & Mompesson estate, National Trust, commented:
“We’re incredibly proud that Stourhead is leading the way as the first large National Trust property working towards fully decarbonising our in-hand emissions. This is a huge ambition, and it’s only possible thanks to strong partnerships with like-minded organisations such as BVRLA and Zapmap, who share our commitment to sustainability.
“Together, we’re not only protecting our heritage but also shaping a cleaner, greener future for everyone who visits Stourhead.”
Karl Wightman, Public Affairs Manager at the BVRLA, said:
It is encouraging to see such great examples of destination charging. This gives drivers the confidence to visit fantastic locations such as Stourhead, who themselves, also benefit as more people will choose to make the journey there.
The Bon VoyCharge Campaign: Powering sustainable journeys
The meeting marked another key stop on the BVRLA's impactful Bon VoyCharge campaign. Launched to highlight the critical role of destination charging in accelerating the UK's transition to electric vehicles, the campaign advocates for more charging points at places where drivers naturally dwell – like hotels, tourist attractions, and leisure venues.
The Bon VoyCharge campaign champions the idea that charging should be an integrated, seamless part of the journey, not a separate task. By ensuring chargers are available at the end point of a journey, the campaign makes sustainable travel easier and more attractive for everyone.

Stourhead's commitment to sustainability and cutting-edge charging
Stourhead National Trust, renowned for its magnificent landscape garden, is not just preserving history but also embracing the future. Its commitment to sustainability is evident in their progressive approach to EV charging infrastructure.
This beautiful site boasts a comprehensive charging provision by RAW Charging in its main car park. You'll find 10 x 22kW Type 2 connectors for reliable top-ups – the kind of destination charging we champion. But what's truly remarkable is that Stourhead is the first National Trust site to offer ultra-rapid charging. With 4 x 150kW CCS and 4 x 300kW CCS connectors, Stourhead is setting a new standard, ensuring even drivers needing a swift boost are well catered for. It's a fantastic example of heritage meeting innovation.
All of RAW's charge points can easily be found and paid for directly in the Zapmap app, or with the tap of the Zapmap charging card. Plus, you can filter for locations with EV charging such as National Trust sites by using the filters menu within the app, making it even easier to plan your destination charging.
