Osprey Charging welcomed Scotland’s Cabinet Secretary for Transport Fiona Hyslop to Paisley to officially open its new super-fast EV charging hub. Ms. Hyslop met Osprey’s Operations  Director Lewis Gardiner and Head of External Affairs Dora Clarke for a tour of the hub and to  discuss the opportunities and challenges of building EV charging infrastructure in Scotland.

Scottish drivers will benefit from this dedicated hub that adds 16 new 300kW charge points to the  national EV charging network, with 24/7 public access near to Glasgow Airport. The new development represents significant private investment into the local area’s EV infrastructure by Osprey Charging, an award-winning UK-wide rapid-charging network.

Located on Saturn Avenue in the busy Phoenix retail area of Paisley, this is Osprey’s second land acquisition, purchased for its proximity to the M8 and Glasgow Airport. The site is easily accessible from both the East- and West-bound carriageways of the A737, less than five minutes from the M8 (Junction 29) and less than 10 minutes’ drive from Glasgow Airport’s terminal.

Osprey has fully re-designed the space specifically for EV charging, with a flow-thru layout, pedestrian walkways, space-saving charge points and Osprey’s signature layout that maximises charger ease-of-use and accessibility for larger vehicles, including two bays that meet PAS1899 standards.

Transport Secretary Fiona Hyslop said:

“I’m delighted to open Osprey’s new ultra-rapid  charging hub near Glasgow Airport – now the largest 24/7 public electric vehicle charging site in  Scotland. Not only is this sort of private sector investment exactly what we need to see to support  our vision for public EV charging, it’s in a prime location offering high-powered EV charging to  fleets, taxis and everyday drivers travelling around Glasgow and to and from the airport.

“We’ve already achieved our target of 6,000 public charge points two years ahead of schedule  thanks to a combination of public funding and increasing private sector investment, with the  private sector now responsible for more than two thirds of Scotland’s public EV charging. This  site demonstrates how public ambition and private sector investment can support the shift to  EVs.”

Ian Johnston, CEO of Osprey Charging, said:

“We’re proud of this carefully designed site  located in Paisley at the heart of a busy retail area. By purchasing the land we were able to  create a bespoke layout specifically for EV charging that maximises space and accessibility,  learning from the success of our Award-winning Salmon’s Leap super-hub in Devon. The hub’s 16 super-fast, super-reliable charge points is the new normal for Osprey – and we’re building  these large convenient hubs all over Great Britain.”

Plugging into the 300kW charge points, drivers can typically add 100 miles of range in as little as  10 minutes, depending on the model of the vehicle and its battery level.

Accepting simple contactless payment via the Zapmap charging card or Zapmap app, every one of Osprey Charging's charge points shares live status and availability information on the Zapmap app.
