Electric I-Pace launched by Jaguar

Jaguar has unveiled the I-Pace Concept – the company’s first all-electric model – which is due to go on sale in 2018.

The EV SUV has a range of more than 300 miles (500 km) thanks to a 90 kWh battery, which powers two electric motors producing a combined 400hp and 700 Nm of torque.

These figures are good to get the electric Jaguar from 0-62mph in around four seconds, and gives the I-Pace an all-wheel drive set-up.

Quoted at 310 miles on the NEDC cycle, Jaguar also states that the more accurate US EPA test cycle – a better indication of real-world range – sees the I-Pace able to cover 220 miles on a single charge.

A rapid charge will take just over two hours on the existing 50kW network, with the battery designed in house by Jaguar Land Rover.

Set to be officially launched at the Los Angeles Motor Show tomorrow (Wednesday 16th November), the I-Pace was revealed to the public in a world first cross-continent Virtual Reality event. Further details will be revealed at the motor show launch, but the I-Pace is confirmed for production in 2018.
