Fastned, the European fast-charging company rated the UK’s best medium sized EV charging network by Zapmap, has opened a new electric vehicle (EV) charging location in Greenock, west of Glasgow.

The site is located off Greenock’s Main Street, at the roundabout connecting with Rue End Street. This is a prime location for anyone travelling from Glasgow and along Scotland’s west coast. As there is little ultra-rapid charging in the area, this hub will be a lifeline for local EV drivers and tourists - especially in the busy summer months.

An initial four charging bays, with the capacity to expand to eight, are supplied with 100% renewable energy, offering drivers up to 100 miles of range in just five minutes. The launch means Fastned now has 33 hubs in the UK. This is Fastned’s third charging hub in the west of Scotland and fifth in Scotland overall.

Fastned’s reliable and easy-to-use ultra-rapid chargers can be easily found on the Zapmap app, where drivers can also pay for charging, making it simple to charge with confidence and get back on the road quickly.

The new charging hub features Fastned’ iconic solar canopy, which, along with keeping them dry while charging, helps EV drivers locate the site easily, and shows drivers who have not yet made the switch to electric that fast charging is available to them. This helps to accelerate the EV transition in the UK as a whole.

Tom Hurst, UK Country Director, Fastned, commented:

We’re delighted to open our fifth charging hub in Scotland, and provide much needed charging in an area with a low number of ultra-rapid chargers. Watch this space as there’s much more to come!
