Hyundai has unveiled the look for their first plug-in hybrid, ahead of its launch in Asia and North America later this year.

Based on the Hyundai Sonata saloon, the PHEV features a 9.8kWh lithium-polymer battery paired with a 152bhp 2.0 litre engine and is capable of driving 22 miles on electric power alone.

Hyundai estimates the battery can be charged in a five hours using a 120V power source, and in 2.5 hours from a 240V outlet.

Although no solid plans to bring the car to Europe, we would not be surprised to see the new plug-in hybrid in the UK soon.
