Volkswagen will reveal an updated version of the e-up! city car at the Geneva Motor Show. The entire up! range is being given a refresh, including the all-electric model.

The powertrain will remain the same with the current 60 kW (82hp) electric motor being powered by an 18.7 kWh lithium-ion battery, providing an official range of 93 miles. With Volkswagen’s recent focus on offering more plug-in cars, it was always expected that the e-up! would remain in the refreshed line up.

What has changed though is the styling and equipment options, bringing both more up to date. A new front bumper, LED running lights, headlight and rear light clusters, rear bumper and optional fog lights give the e-up! a sportier look.

Equipment now includes the likes of a new entertainment system and multi function display, USB port, interior trim materials, light and rain sensing headlights and windscreen wipers, new smartphone integration system, new air conditioning set-up, and BeatsAudio sound system.

As with many other models in the sector, personalisation options have been ramped up with 13 body colours now available, ten different dashboard designs, nine decal sets and three roof colours.

Pricing and precise details of the e-up! will be confirmed closer to the car’s on-sale date, scheduled to be summer later this year.
