Audi has confirmed that it will produce at least one new electrified model every year from 2018 onwards. The announcement came from company CEO Rupert Stadler in his speech at Audi’s AGM this Thursday (12th May).
The news confirmed that Audi is preparing for production of its first full electric vehicle (EV) in the shape of the e-tron quattro – a large SUV with a range of more than 310 miles on a single charge. Production has been confirmed for Brussels where the plant will also have its own battery production line for the increased number of plug-in Audis planned.
The current range includes the A3 Sportback e-tron and Q7 e-tron, though these will obviously be supplemented by more models involving both plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) and full EVs. The VW Group of which Audi is part is designing platforms specifically tailored for electrified powertrains, and in a range of sizes.
