Petrol stations to get GeniePoint rapid EV charge points

Rapid EV charging at petrol stations will be easier from today (Thursday 31st August) after ChargePoint Services and Motor Fuel Group joined forces to install charge points at forecourts nationwide.

The deal sees the UK’s second largest forecourt operator, with more than 400 petrol stations, sign a partnership agreement with ChargePoint Services to install 50kW + rapid chargers at their sites, across a number of brands.

Petrol stations with brands such as BP, Shell, Texaco, JET, and Murco will have charge points installed, all joining the GeniePoint network – which is run by ChargePoint Services.

Alex Bamberg, managing director, ChargePoint Services, said: “Electric Vehicle Charging is now a critical public service, and we are on target to provide the most reliable, widespread rapid charging facilities across the UK for drivers of electric vehicles, backed up by our excellent, continuous customer care program.”

Jeremy Clarke, MFG’s chief operating officer, said: “We are delighted to be extending our fuel offer to customers. The growth of the electric and hybrid vehicle market is an important part of the fuel mix going forward. MFG is determined to be at the forefront of this technology, satisfying this growing demand.”
