Peugeot and Citroen have announced that Pod Point will be the companies’ recommended supplier of EV charge points going forward. The British firm has reached an agreement with the PSA Group – which owns the brands Peugeot, Citroen, and DS Automobiles – to be a charging partner.

As part of the deal, Pod Point units will be installed in selected Peugeot and Citroen dealerships across the UK. This will take place in phases over the next few years as new plug-in models are added to the companies’ line-ups.

The iON and C-Zero are offered by Peugeot and Citroen respectively, sharing a platform and powertrain, while the Peugeot Partner Electric and Citroen Berlingo Electric vans are also available and also share essential components.

Helen Lees, Head of Electric Vehicles for the PSA group in the UK, said: “Pod Point has a strong emphasis on the importance of training and education in the sales process of electric vehicles and charging solutions, which we see as crucial in this emerging market.

“It’s vital that our customers are fully informed and only select electric vehicles when the transport and charging needs suit their circumstances. Pod Point provides our customers with a competitive offer for standard or rapid charging at home or at the workplace.

“We also predict growth in our electric LCV sales in particular, so we’re delighted that Pod Point can offer our business customers workplace charging solutions part-funded by the new government grant.”

Erik Fairbairn, CEO and founder of POD Point said: “We are very pleased to be working with Citroen and Peugeot to provide the very best customer service and installation experience in the UK. They have long been synonymous with being at the cutting edge of automotive innovation, and today is a prime example of that.

“We are delighted to have been chosen as the preferred supplier and to be supporting its fleet, sales and dealership teams in providing the very best experience for anybody using an EV in the UK.”

This deal is another landmark in what has been an important year for Pod Point, following similar partnership agreements with Airparks and Hyundai. To date, Pod Point has shipped more than 27,000 charge points and supplied over 44 million miles of electric motoring.
