POD Point partners with Volvo Car UK

Electric vehicle charging company POD Point has announced that is has become the preferred supplier of electric vehicle charging solutions for Volvo Car UK, a manufacturer with an increasing number of plug-in vehicles.

Volvo Car UK now offers plug-in hybrid versions of its highly regarded V60 and XC90 vehicles. Plug-in hybrid vehicles are an attractive proposition for their lower cost electric running, superior acceleration, and not least, the tax breaks afforded by their low CO2 output.

POD Point’s new status means that anyone purchasing a Volvo plug-in vehicle will be able to easily access a charge point for their home, with POD Point offering the best install experience in the country.

The POD Point Solo, priced from £390 is the super reliable homecharge unit, which will be installed within ten working days. EV users typically do 60% of their charging at home, and tend to charge at night when electricity is cheaper and they can return to their car with a full battery.

POD Point is now also able to help Volvo owners get charging points installed at their place of work and demonstrate the benefits electric vehicles bring can bring to their organisation.

POD Point also partner with Carbon Footprint to offset the first 5,000 miles of electricity for each homecharge POD Point installed, giving drivers time to think about switching to a greener energy tariff.

On the matter, Erik Fairbairn, CEO and Founder of POD Point said “We are very pleased to be working with such a respected company as Volvo Car UK to provide the very best customer service and installation experience in the UK. We take pride in training and educating plug-in vehicle owners on getting the most out of their electric vehicles. There is a wave of momentum in the EV industry now with many manufacturers producing PHEV’s, and with more than 47,000 plug-in vehicles on the road in the UK already, we are starting to see plug-in cars become the de facto way to drive.”

POD Point has grown from £4.5m to £6.5m turnover in the last 2 years. It has shipped over 20,000 charge points and supplied over 12 million miles of electric motoring. This rapid growth has earned the company a spot in the 2015 Sunday Times Tech Track 100 list of the UK’s fastest growing tech companies.
