Renault has confirmed specifications for its first plug-in hybrid – the Captur E-Tech. The popular crossover gets a PHEV powertrain allowing for an electric-only range of up to 30 miles on a charge.

Renault is starting to roll-out E-tech electrified powertrains across its core model line-up, with the popular Captur the first to receive the plug-in hybrid version.

This sees a 9.8 kWh battery drive two electric motors, which work with a 1.6 litre petrol engine. Official fuel efficiency figures come in at 33 g/km CO2 and 188.3 MPG for the 160 hp powertrain.

Driving modes include Pure, Sport, and E-Save for drivers to tailor to their requirements, and Renault is offering all new Captur E-Tech customers a free 7 kW Chargemaster home charge point.

With considerable experience in pure-electric models with the likes of the Zoe, Twizy, and Kangoo ranges, this is the first time a PHEV powertrain has been developed and produced by Renault.

Prices start at £30,495 for the Captur E-Tech Plug-In Hybrid, which sees equipment based on the high-level S Edition trim.
