Citroen will reveal a new concept at the Paris Motor Show in the shape of the CXPERIENCE – which features a plug-in hybrid drivetrain. The large hatchback could preview the next generation of Citroen’s large family car range, and promises a maximum power output of up to 300hp with the potential for zero tailpipe emission motoring.

Under the bonnet is one of the PSA Group’s award-winning petrol engines, producing between 150 and 200hp. An additional 80kW (107hp) is provided by the CXPERIENCE Concept’s electric motor, and power goes through an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

The CXPERIENCE Concept is able to cover 37 miles on electric power alone, and the battery can be fully charged in 4.5 hours from a standard socket – or 2.5 hours with a fast charger. The battery pack is placed in the floor of the car to maximise interior space.

It’s not just a styling exercise either as the CXPERIENCE Concept previews Citroen’s latest ‘Advanced Comfort’ ideas. A widescreen display can be configured to show different features at the same time, while the car also features smartphone and tablet connectivity and wireless charging. Passengers in the back use a tablet to adjust the seat position, air conditioning or media playing for example – a feature which is currently found in the new and luxurious BMW 7-Series.

The CXPERIENCE Concept will go on display at the Paris Motor Show at the end of this month.
