Compleo Charging Solutions UK, a provider of electric vehicle (EV) charging hardware and software solutions to businesses, has opened a new UK headquarters in Abingdon, Oxfordshire.

The unveiling of offices within ‘The Lambourn’ at Abingdon Business Park is part of parent company Compleo Charging Solutions AG’s European expansion. It already has offices in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Sweden, employing 600 people.

Compleo’s UK team, which has been operating from smaller premises close to Swindon for the last three years, will mastermind the company’s rollout of innovative EV charging solutions into the fleet, hotels and public car park sectors from its newer and bigger HQ.

The location will also serve as the base for Compleo’s UK Training Academy where charging point installers and network operators will be given the skills they need to deliver and use the firm’s AC and DC charging products and bespoke software services.

“We’re delighted to make Abingdon the new home of Compleo Charging Solutions in the UK. It’s a vibrant and friendly town that sits at the heart of Oxfordshire – a key region for science and technology development,” said Compleo UK Managing Director Valentin Scheltow.

“The Electric Vehicle market in the UK is going from strength to strength and we’re looking to build on the excellent work we’ve done across the last three years to grow our customer portfolio even more, from a prime location in central England.”

Compleo and Network Rail are installing EV charging points at railway station car parks.

Oxfordshire is a county that’s embracing a sustainable future via its Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Strategy, and Compleo has been supporting this vision through the recent delivery of numerous EV charging projects.

It has installed 33 EV chargers at the depot of Oxford Direct Services (ODS), the company that uses electric trucks to collect business waste on behalf of Oxford City Council, and has also supplied a network of motorcycle chargers to Abingdon-based Oxford Harley-Davidson as part of a pan-European rollout programme.

“Being able to welcome a company like Compleo to Abingdon is a vote of confidence in the way we’re doing things in the town, but we also see it as us welcoming an international company that has a broad reach and is playing an important role in the drive to net zero,” said Councillor Andy Foulsham, the Mayor of Abingdon-on-Thames.

“The local area is a hotbed of science and engineering and a brilliant place for a high-tech business to be based. We’re delighted Compleo are here and I want to do everything I can to make it a success for them.”

In July this year, Compleo and Network Rail announced they are installing new EV charging points at railway station car parks. The companies are aiming to equip 10% of Network Rail’s car parking spaces, about 780 bays, by March 2024.
