The Cupra El-Born has been revealed as the first pure-electric model from Seat’s performance brand. Based on the El-Born concept from the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, the Cupra El-Born will feature a range of up to 310 miles on a single charge.
Sharing a platform and powertrain systems with VW’s ID.3, the El-Born uses a 77 kWh (82 kWh gross)battery for the quoted range, and will add 160 miles in half an hour when rapid charging.
An electric motor drives the rear wheels, and although a traditional 0-62 mph time isn’t revealed, the Cupra El-Born will reach half that speed in just 2.9 seconds – hinting at hot-hatch-like performance, as you would expect from the Cupra brand.
An augmented reality head-up display, and ‘full connectivity’ will feature inside, as will Cupra driving modes, and ‘sustainably-sourced material choices throughout’.
Due to go on sale in 2021, further details of the Cupra El-Born will be announced in due course.
