DS Automobiles has revealed its new model – the DS 9. Looking to see the DS name return to the executive saloon market, the DS 9 will feature the firm’s E-Tense plug-in hybrid technology.

Featuring an 11.9 kWh battery, the DS 9 will be able to cover between 25 and 31 miles on electric power alone. Driven by a petrol engine and electric motor producing a combined 225 hp, the DS 9 can be charged at 7.2 kW via a Type 2 inlet for recharging times of just an hour and a half.

This is just the start however, as the DS 9 will be added to shortly after launch with an additional two E-Tense PHEV options. The first will be two-wheel drive and feature an increased range, while the second will be a four-wheel drive model with 360 hp on tap.

Active Scan Suspension will feature which scans the road ahead to prepare the suspension for any bumps or holes coming. It’s intended to reflect the famous ride of the original DS from Citroen, which has influenced a number of areas of the design too, including the lights fitted at the top of the roof line.

Further details will be made available closer to the car’s UK launch, expected to be late in 2020.
