How to use the Pod network

You can view the live status and availability of any Pod charge point at any time via the Zapmap app and web map, making planning your charging stops even easier.

Pod has an extensive UK-wide network, which requires a smartphone app or use of a web app to access the units. You can sign up for a Pod Account for free, or alternatively use guest access. The network’s rapid chargers at certain Tesco locations have a contactless payment option.

Pod offers drivers 15 minutes to confirm a charge after plugging in. This means that drivers have the chance to get out of the rain or find mobile signal. Charging will start immediately but will pause after five minutes if the charge has not been confirmed.

Where are Pod charge points located?

All Pod points can be found on Zapmap by using the network filter. This can be used on desktop and mobile apps, and displays only those points available to use by Pod customers.

Charging types and speeds can be filtered too, showing only those points that are compatible with users’ cars.
Select 'Filters' -> 'Networks' -> 'Pod' to view only Pod charge points.

How does Pod compare to other networks in terms of pricing?

Zapmap monitors the prices of charging on the public network and reports on the prices charged by the top 10* rapid charging networks. The prices are updated on a monthly basis here: Rapid Charging: Top 10 Network Pricing

The price to charge an electric vehicle (EV) on the public charging network can vary substantively, and prices are increasing due to current issues in the energy market.
Updated on a monthly basis, the Zapmap Price Index shows the difference in prices paid depending on the type of charger and will also track how this is changing over time.

About Pod

Previously known as Pod Point, Pod is one of the UK’s largest charging networks. Founded in 2009 and based in London, Pod also provides charge points to home and business users.

The network focuses on fast charging options, with some slow chargers available and an increasing number of rapid charge points installed.

Pod partners

Pod has official charging partnership arrangements with major automotive brands and Fleet customers. Pod is able to easily arrange smart home charging installations for customers and, in certain cases, offers a discount to drivers as part of the deal.
