How to use Smart Charge charge points
Tap to pay - pay for your charge using a debit or credit card, including contactless including Apple Pay or Google Pay
- Start your charge - plug your vehicle in to get started. CCS2 connectors are available at all of our charging hubs and most of them also offer CHAdeMO connectors.
- Get on the move in no time - stop your charge when you’re ready and get going by pressing STOP on the charger screen. Smart Charge150kW chargers can provide up to 80% charge in as little as 30 minutes.
Where are Smart Charge charge points located?
Smart Charge points can be found in Sainsbury's supermarket car parks, and can be found on Zapmap by using the network filter. This can be used on the desktop and mobile apps, and displays only those points operated by Smart Charge.
Charging types and speeds can be filtered too, showing only those points that are compatible with users’ cars.
Select 'Filters' -> 'Networks' -> 'Smart Charge' to view only Smart Charge charge points.

How does Smart Charge compare to other networks in terms of pricing?

The price to charge an electric vehicle (EV) on the public charging network can vary substantively, and prices are increasing due to current issues in the energy market.

Drivers can Collect Nectar points with Smart Charge by following these steps when they charge:
- Once you’ve tapped to pay and plugged in your car, scan the follow on mobile QR code on the charger screen.
Tap ‘add Nectar card number’ and enter your Nectar card number, this can be found either on your card or in your Nectar app (just tap the card icon and you’ll be able to copy & paste your number).
