Smart Charge
Smart Charge is a charging network offering Destination charging. As of the end of September 2025 Smart Charge had a total of 345 charge points across the UK.
Sainsbury's provides Smart Charge ultra-rapid EV charging at many of its supermarket locations across the UK, allowing drivers to fully charge their vehicles in as little time as it takes to complete their weekly shop, with the added bonus of earning Nectar points for charging.
In 2025 Smart Charge surpassed the milestone of powering 100 million fossil fuel free miles, and was awarded Zapmap’s 2025 ‘Up-and-coming network’ award. This year, Smart Charge has taken the top place in Zapmap’s annual network rankings as ‘Best EV charging network 2026’ in the ‘Medium rapid / ultra-rapid network’ category for its simple, reliable, accessible, and rewarding charging experience.
Where can you find Smart Charge charge points?
Smart Charge charge points are available nationwide and there are currently 345 across 84 locations which can all be found in the Zapmap app or on the Zapmap desktop map.
Simply use the Network filter on the app to pinpoint the charge points, there you'll also find the address, a detailed break down of the Smart Charge charge points at each location, their live status (where available), charge point speeds, costs to charge, and star ratings, photos and feedback from other Zapmap users.

Charging at a 3-49kW Smart Charge charge point currently costs between 49p/kWh - 72p/kWh.

Charging at a 50-149kW Smart Charge charge point currently costs between 49p/kWh - 72p/kWh.

Charging at a 150-400kW Smart Charge charge point currently costs 72p/kWh.
How does Smart Charge's cost to charge compare to other networks?
