Employees reckon electric vehicles (EVs) can play a key role in companies improving their environmental credentials, according to a study by Go Ultra Low.

The joint government and industry campaign to promote EVs has found that 70% of those employees surveyed consider their employers should consider offering electric vehicles as company cars.

Almost two thirds (63%) would be happy to drive an electric car, with the main benefits being reduced running costs (60%) and environmental factors (53%).

With recent changes to Benefit-in-Kind (BIK) rates, employees could save thousands of pounds by driving an EV compared to a conventional petrol or diesel model.

Go Ultra Low surveyed 2,000 UK professionals, who also said that 69% of them are keen for their companies to be more environmentally friendly, 33% of them would like on-site EV charge points, and 31% would like to see EV pool or company cars on the fleet.
