Charging network InstaVolt has announced it is joining forces with the AA, the UK’s largest motoring organisation, to offer electric vehicle (EV) drivers industry-leading support on a 24/7 basis.

Following the government’s decision last year to ban the sale of new petrol and diesel cars from 2030, the agreement between the AA and InstaVolt aims to give drivers further confidence to switch to electric vehicles, by providing reliable and high-quality customer service whatever the time of day.

The AA will provide call centre support for InstaVolt customers using its network of over 550 EV charging devices nationwide – all at popular locations with on-site amenities including McDonald’s, KFC and Starbucks – via a dedicated phone number. The AA customer service team will be able to resolve common charging queries, direct customers to InstaVolt charging stations and help with account or payment queries.

In March, EV drivers received a major boost when InstaVolt opened its M6 rapid charging hub – an eight-bay hub at Welcome Break’s service area on the northbound carriageway of the M6 at Corley in the Midlands.

InstaVolt owns, installs, and maintains rapid EV charging units all over the country, giving landowners the opportunity to earn a rental income by housing them, and giving EV drivers access to some of the fastest charging available. InstaVolt has been recognised by Zap-Map as the nation’s favourite multi-brand charging network.

Adrian Keen, Chief Executive Officer at InstaVolt, said:

“Despite the rapid growth in EV adoption and the continual improvements in facilities and support for EV drivers nationwide, there still remains some hesitancy among certain owners to switch from petrol and diesel vehicles. Securing the support of the AA’s customer services team will help to dispel any lingering concerns around the ease with which EV drivers encountering difficulties can find high quality help.

“We are determined to further the speed and rate of EV adoption nationwide, and are delighted to be joining forces with such a reliable and trustworthy brand as the AA to help advance the cause.”

Edmund King, AA President, said:

“It’s vital that EV drivers have confidence that the infrastructure is in place to power their journeys, and that expert support is on hand if they have any challenges when charging up. We’re therefore proud to be partnering with InstaVolt to make this support a reality through our dedicated customer service team and give drivers the feeling of freedom.

“It’s an exciting time to be driving as we make the move towards electrification and at the AA we are leading the charge with our support for the nation’s EV drivers.”
