LEVC has launched its range-extended van – the VN5. Using the same platform and architecture as the TX5 Black Cab, the VN5 has a pure-electric range of 58 miles on a charge, and a combined range of more than 300 miles.

The VN5 is solely driven by its 110 kW electric motor, the 1.5 litre petrol engine is available to recharge the battery on the move.

The 31 kWh battery can be charged at up to 22 kW AC – though standard kit is a 7 kW AC on-board charger – and like the TX5, buyers can opt for both CCS and CHAdeMO rapid charging inlets if required.

Load details for the VN5 include a payload of up to 830 kg and a capacity of 5.5 m3, with LEVC designing the VN5 to be used for both last-mile deliveries and longer trips.

Launched in three specifications – Business, City, and Ultima – the LEVC VN5 starts at £46,500 for Business trim, which includes climate control, Bluetooth connectivity, 9-inch touchscreen system, and keyless start.

City trim starts at £48,000, adding a heated windscreen, parking sensors front and rear, additional storage under the front seats, and improved safety kit. Top-of-the-range Ultima specification adds 22 kW fast AC charging, satellite navigation, electric and heated front seats, and rear view camera, starting at £52,000.

The LEVC VN5 is available to order now, with first deliveries in the UK expected in Q4 2020.
