Zap-Map has added ubitricity to its list of dynamic data providers, offering users the ability to see live status updates from the network’s charge points.

Available to view on both the smartphone app – available on Android & iOS – and desktop site, dynamic updates from more than 290 ubitricity charge points are already available.

The lamp-post charge point provider’s updates show users whether units are available, charging, or out of service, providing valuable information for Zap-Map users.

Charge points from the network can be found in the following local authority areas:

• City of Westminster
• London Borough of Hackney
• London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham
• London Borough of Haringey
• London Borough of Hounslow
• London Borough of Islington
• London Borough of Lambeth
• London Borough of Richmond upon Thames
• London Borough of Southwark
• London Borough of Tower Hamlets
• London Borough of Waltham Forest
• London Borough of Wandsworth
• Oxford City Council
• Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea

Using existing lamp-posts, ubitricity is able to offer local authorities the option to offer on-street residential EV charging with no costly installation fees, and ready-made kerb-side parking. Since much of an EV driver’s charging is typically completed at home, the ability for those without off-street parking to charge their EV from a lamp-post socket can prove invaluable.

Customers can use an ubitricity SmartCable to access the point, which controls starting and stopping the charging process. This also monitors how much energy has been used, billing the EV driver for the amount. Pay-as-you-go access is also available for users, tailored for occasional use, with no SmartCable required.

Melanie Shufflebotham, COO and co-founder of Zap-Map said: “We are delighted to have integrated live feeds from ubitricity. With more than 290 ubitricity lamp-post devices already installed in the UK, the network is already playing a key role is supporting EV drivers charge on-street, a requirement for vehicle owners who do not have access to off-street parking. The service offered by ubitricity is a great step forward in opening up EV ownership to a new audience.”

James Everley, UK Director of Business Development & Operations commented: “ubitricity is delighted to be working with such an essential service for EV drivers as Zap-Map. Having visibility of charge points is key not only for existing drivers but for those considering making the smart change over to an EV.

“As we continue to roll out sockets right across the UK, including our latest offering – Pay As You Go sockets – we look forward to ensuring the very latest up-to-date information is available to drivers via Zap-Map.”
