Lynk & Co has revealed its plans for expansion into Europe as well as the new 01 SUV, with the Geely-owned brand set to offer a subscription model to car ownership.

The Lynk & Co 01 shares may components with the Volvo XC40, and as such is available with a plug-in hybrid powertrain. In fact, Lynk & Co is aiming to make the car choosing process extremely simple.

Customers can pick a colour – black or blue – and powertrain – PHEV or conventional hybrid; those are the only choices. The cost for this will be around £456 a month (500 euros), though car sharing will reduce those costs.

Everything barring fuel costs is included in the monthly subscription, including tax and insurance. For those that want to own the car, conventional purchase models will be available, though prices are yet to be revealed.

The 01 PHEV uses a three-cylinder 1.5 litre petrol engine and electric motor for a combined output of 261 hp. This allows for a 0-62 mph time of 7.9 seconds and top speed of 137 mph.

Efficiency scores come in at 256.8 MPG and 26 g/km of CO2, with an electric-only range of 43 miles on a charge. The latter is thanks to a 17.6 kWh (14.1 kWh usable) battery. Charging will take around five hours from a 3 kW unit.

No UK arrival date has been announced yet, though the first cars arriving in Europe should be in spring 2021.
