The Mercedes Benz B 250 e has been launched, with the plug-in hybrid offering an electric-only range of up to 42 miles on a charge.

Featuring a 75 kW electric motor and 158 hp 1.3 litre petrol engine, the B 250 e has an official fuel economy figure of 235.4 MPG, and CO2 emissions of 27 g/km.

This is largely possible thanks to a 10.6 kWh battery, which can be charged at up to 7.4 kW AC via the Type 2 inlet.

Standard equipment includes Mercedes’ excellent MBUX infotainment system with 10.25-inch display, privacy glass, heated front seats, climate control, 18-inch alloys, wireless phone charging, and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity.

Three trims are available – AMG Line Executive, AMG Line Premium, and AMG Line Premium Plus – with prices starting at £35,280. Order books are open now, and deliveries are expected to start late summer.
