Mercedes Benz has announced prices and specifications for the eSprinter, the German company’s pure-electric large van. The eSprinter features a range of 96 miles on a charge, with prices starting from a little over £50,000 – exc. VAT & OLEV grants.

Available in one trim – Progressive – the eSprinter is offered in two variants. One offers 20 kW DC fast charging, for a 10-80% charge in two hours. The other offers 80 kW DC charging, reducing that time to half an hour. AC charging can be carried out at up to 7.2 kW.

Featuring a 55 kWh (gross) battery – 47 kWh usable – the eSprinter is powered by an 85 kW electric motor, whatever charging specification is selected.

Available only in L2 H2 configuration, load space is not compromised since the battery is placed in the eSprinter’s floor. Four blocks of batteries make up the pack, with each able to be individually replaced in the event of damage.

Aimed at users requiring zero-emission last mile and urban operations, the eSprinter’s range has been picked after analysing more than 1.6 million journeys on the EQ Ready app. Of these trips, 96% were less than 62 miles.

Eligible for the Plug-in Van Grant, taking up to £8,000 off the cost of an electric LCV, the Mercedes Benz eSprinter is also eligible for Transport for London’s scrappage scheme, and exempt from Ultra Low Emission Zone charges. Prices start from £51,950, excluding VAT and Plug-in Van Grant.
