Zap-Map, the UK’s leading EV mapping service, is delighted to announce that Charge My Street is the latest charge point operator to sign up to Zap-Pay, the simple way to pay for EV charging across networks from within the Zap-Map app.
Having recently signed the Zap-Pay agreement, the two organisations will soon begin work on the technical integration required to set up Charge My Street as an established Zap-Pay partner. Charge My Street will become the ninth charge point operator to be added to Zap-Map’s payment service.
The community-based charging network, which currently operates more than 40 fast charging devices in the north-west of England, enables those without access to off-street parking to charge for a reduced cost – and less than a five-minute walk from their home.
Charge My Street is a community benefit society that installs and operates community charge points for electric vehicles, raising money through community shares via investment service Ethex. Electric vehicle charge points are installed in sites such as village halls, community centres and local businesses to make it easier for those without access to off-street parking to make the switch to an electric vehicle.
As a community benefit society, all profits that Charge My Street makes from shares or subscriptions go straight back into the community – by installing more charge points in the local area. The network is currently coming to the end of an Innovate UK sponsored project to install charge points not only across the north of England but also nationwide.
Launched last year with a mission to sign up all the key networks across the UK, Zap-Pay is the simple way to pay for EV charging across networks from within the Zap-Map app. As a single-app payment system that uses a credit or debit card to pay for charging, Zap-Pay avoids the hassle of using multiple apps across different networks.
The payment service from Zap-Map means that EV drivers can search, plan and pay for charging all within one app.
Charge My Street’s community-based charging network will become Zap-Pay enabled in the New Year, providing EV drivers in the north-west of England and beyond with convenient, trouble-free charging within five minutes’ walk of their home.
Charge My Street is the ninth charge point operator to join the Zap-Pay partner network.
Alex Earl, Commercial Director at Zap-Map, said:
“It’s great to be working with Charge My Street. Their community-funded charge points are helping to stimulate demand for EVs in areas without off-street parking outside of large conurbations. By doing so, they are encouraging the uptake of electric vehicles in places which might otherwise be left behind as the country transitions to electric vehicles.
“Having Charge My Street on board in the Zap-Pay partner network is good news for EV drivers – especially those without access to off-street parking – who will benefit from a convenient and easy-to-use service within walking distance of their homes.
“We need to make paying for charging as simple as possible. Charge My Street’s demand-led approach and community ethos will tie in perfectly with Zap-Pay and help us do just that.”
Daniel Heery, Director at Charge My Street, said:
“We are delighted to be working with the UK’s number one charging map provider. This allows those searching for charge points to find our network of charge points across the country.
“The integration with Zap-Pay improves the driver experience when paying for charging. It allows a seamless transition for those charging at their local charge points as well, when visiting our charge points on their holidays in the Yorkshire Dales or the Lake District.
“As we continue to provide a solution for those without access to off-street parking, we need to offer a simple, secure and dependable solution, and Zap-Pay allows all EV drivers to do that.”
Zap-Map and Charge My Street look forward to making further announcements on the partnership once the technical integration is complete.
