EVCharger@theBistro at Etchingham Station was officially unveiled on the 18th June. Located in front of the Bistro at Etchingham Station, the new APCOA charge point was funded primarily by train operating company, Southeastern, with additional financial support from de Etchingham Community Interest Company (CIC) and Rother District Council.

The village's first charge point offers both CCS Type 1 charging up to 50kW, and Type 2, 22kW charging, supports contactless payments, and can be found via the Zapmap app.

Colin Phillips, Chairman of the CIC explained:

“The Government’s aim is that 80% of new cars and 70% of new vans sold in Great Britain will be zero emission by 2030, increasing to 100% by 2035. There are already an increasing number of electric and hybrid vehicles on the road and not all owners have space at home for a charger.

"The CIC believes a publicly available EV Charging Point at the Station will benefit residents of the village, customers of
the Bistro and visitors to the area. We have worked hard with Southeastern, UK Power Networks and others to make this happen.”

Peter Stapleton, Head of Facilities at Southeastern, added:

“We very much value the CIC’s presence and involvement at Etchingham, and the addition of a public EV charging point is further demonstration of our commitment to the station and wider Etchingham location.”

Colin Phillips concluded:

“This new village EV Charger will make it easier for residents to charge their vehicles not far from home and maybe get a coffee at the same time.”
