Public charging network GeniePoint is the leading provider of EV charge points at forecourts in the UK, with more than 120 rapid units installed or underway.
The network’s agreement with the Motor Fuel Group (MFG) puts GeniePoint ahead of major fuel suppliers such as BP and Shell, both of which are looking to expand their charge point offering.
GeniePoint – operated by ChargePoint Services – currently has around 60 rapid charger sites live on Zap-Map marked as being installed at petrol station.
This is ahead of not only BP and Shell, but also the likes of InstaVolt, when looking purely at forecourt installations. However InstaVolt, though at fewer locations, currently has more units at forecourts than GeniePoint.
This doesn’t count motorway service stations, where Ecotricity’s and Tesla’s units are available in the car park, rather than at the forecourt.
Alex Bamberg, managing director, ChargePoint Services, said: “The GeniePoint network is already regarded as the most reliable rapid charging network in the UK. We know our 24/7 customer service is outstanding, which gives drivers the confidence to just turn up and charge, safe in the knowledge we’re just a phone call away if they need us.
Working alongside leading forecourt operator MFG, we are delighted to provide this critical service supporting EV drivers across the UK’s road network.”
Andy Edwards, MFG’s group infrastructure director, said: “We are delighted to be extending our fuel offer to customers. The growth of the electric and hybrid vehicle market is an important part of the fuel mix going forward. MFG is determined to be at the forefront of this technology, satisfying this growing demand.”
