ChargePoint Services will expand its network with 50 new rapid chargers, after the company announced a deal with French firm EVTronic for delivery of the units by the end of the month.
The new rapid chargers will be installed on the GeniePoint network over the course of the next three months at key locations across the country. With a further £1 million of investment in its EV charging networks, ChargePoint Services is continuing its plans to be one of the UK’s main network operators.
The EVTronic units use smart energy storage to maximise efficiency. When no charging or charging at slow speeds is taking place, the rapid charger stores electricity for delivery when a rapid charge is needed.
ChargePoint Service’s new units are also scalable, so that they can be upgraded to deal with increased battery sizes in future.
Alex Bamberg, Managing Director, ChargePoint Services Ltd, said: “Electric Vehicle charging is now a critical public service. With battery technology constantly being developed to improve capacity and reduce re-charging time, the driving range of vehicles is increasing dramatically.
“To support this accelerating progress, EV charging equipment must incorporate the latest technologies, as well as being extremely reliable for public use. For the expansion of our GeniePoint Network, we have chosen EVTronic chargers due to their unique energy storage capability and robust reliability, their high level of functionality and total integration with our GeniePoint Platform.
“This will ensure drivers using the GeniePoint Network get the best possible user experience when recharging their vehicle.”
Vincent Beudin, VP Business Development EVTronic, said: “We are very pleased to be partnering with ChargePoint Services in the UK, their GeniePoint Platform back office system integrates perfectly with our chargers to provide world-class, integrated functionality capable of providing rapid charging to the electric vehicles of today and tomorrow.”
The new units will appear on Zap-Map as and when they go live, with dynamic data available to desktop and app users. Find GeniePoint charge points by using the network filter on Zap-Map.
