Kia adds e-Niro 39 kWh and faster charging to range

Kia is expanding its e-Niro line-up, with the pure-electric crossover seeing AC charging boosted to 11 kW, and a new 39 kWh entry-level model (pictured above) join the range.

Prices for the Kia e-Niro now start at less than £30,000, as UK buyers will be able to opt for the smaller 39 kWh battery pack for the first time.

This allows for a range of 180 miles on a charge, powering a 100 kW electric motor. Available on the ‘2’ specification, the e-Niro 39 kWh will complete the 0-60 mph sprint in 9.5 seconds.

It joins the ‘3’ and ‘4+’ e-Niro line-up with the 64 kWh battery, which allows for a range of 282 miles on a charge. As before, it uses a 150 kW electric motor, with a 0-60 mph time of 7.5 seconds.

The plus element of the ‘4+’ trim indicates that the top of the range trim now includes AC charging at up to 11 kW on three phase chargers.

It’s fitted as standard to the trim, where other specifications retain 7 kW AC charging. All are capable of ultra-rapid charging at up to 100 kW on DC charge points using the CCS inlet.

Prices including the £3,000 UK Plug-in Car Grant start at £29,595 for the e-Niro 2 39 kWh, £33,850 for the e-Niro 3 64 kWh, and £36,145 for the e-Niro 4+ using the same battery and with 11 kW AC charging. The new e-Niro model range is on sale now.
